Teaser Flame Hardening Welding & Cutting

revised: Customer process flame hardening in the Welding & Cutting sector

Flame Hardening

The flame changes the surface properties

PROCESS DESCRIPTION

Flame hardening is the name given to short-term, localised heating and cooling of a component made of temperable steel. During heating, the austenitising temperature, and when cooling the so-called “critical cooling speed", must not be exceeded. Hardening/tempering changes the steel´s structure. Using an excessive fuel gas flame can achieve  an additional carburisation of the surface.
