EXTINGUISHING GASES

Extinguishing fire without damaging valuable equipment with water

Fire Fighting with Extinguishing Gases

In the outbreak of a fire, quick fire-fighting operations need to be initiated to limit the extent of damage. In case of a house or forest fire, water has proven to be a suitable extinguisher agent. However, when a server room or an archive is on fire, water would do additional damage. Therefore, an alternative fire-fighting approach is engaged. Gas extinguishing systems are the method of choice when valuable equipment or other objects sensitive to water are in danger. On this account, extinguishing gases protect valuable objects in two ways; they prevent damage caused by fire and water. The general principle of extinguishing gases is the suffocation of the combustion due to displacement of oxygen.
